Message from the President Welcome to the ATU 19 website. We appreciate this opportunity to share our past, present, and future with you. We have a rich history with roots planted deep. Our current efforts maintain that past and keep us strong. Our future holds promise of growth and prosperity. We will be representing Mountain Metropolitan Transit employees and their special needs on more then one property. ATU 19 was chartered in January 1893. We have endured decades of change and challenge. With determination and strength we have become the oldest local in the ATU. We continue representing our bus drivers, para-transit drivers, maintenance, information clerks and surveyor personnel with the same determination and strength. Our strength is maintained through unity and knowledge. We will continue to educate ourselves and our members. The ATU International provides us with a wealth of opportunities and resources to fulfill those needs. ATU 19 is a family. Each member is important to us. As your Executive Board, we work fulltime along side of you. We represent you and your best interests. The Executive Board encourages communication and strives to be available to serve our members. We hope that this web site will provide one more resource for communication. In order to effectively represent you, we need our input. We can only defend our contract when we are made aware of violations. It is important we work hard and put out our best, constantly maintaining the integrity of our profession. It is important we use our time with each other to socialize and share. We welcome you to attend our union meetings and social events. These are trying times for our local and as your Union President I look forward to the challenge. With the help of the International ATU, the knowledge of our Executive Board and the support of our dedicated members, I feel well equipped to confront any new issues. I am very proud and honored to represent a strong local. Our members realize how important this union is. We enjoy the protection and benefits generations of ATU union members have fought hard to get. It is our legacy and our responsibility. We are obligated to pass it on to future generations. The unity we share is as important to our survival as the contracts and laws that protect us. Unity is a partnership. Unity holds us together and keeps us strong. I intend to do everything in my power to support that unity. I intend to do everything in my power to be a Strong Representative for you. Thank You, Kenneth Knox President, ATU Local 19
